Electricity costs are a sensitive variable these days. And an aquarium usually does not cause very little of it. But with the appropriate LED technology, including additional functions such as dimmers, heat recovery and intelligent light control, you can save energy very efficiently. Learn more here!

Heat recovery with the aquaLUMix and PRO² LED bars

With active water cooling, the LEDs are not only optimally cooled, the waste heat of the LEDs is effectively used and the aquarium is also heated. The heat energy that is wasted and remains unused with conventional LED lighting is effectively used with the water-cooled LED lamp. The system feeds the resulting waste heat into the aquarium water and thus noticeably relieves the aquarium heating. LED water cooling with heat recovery becomes a great advantage for the aquarium enthusiast. Simple - ingenious!

Advantages in summary:

  • The heat recovery / LED water cooling uses the waste heat of the LEDs and supplies warm water to the aquarium.
  • The power consumption of the aquarium heating is massively reduced.
  • LED lighting with heat recovery pays for itself much more quickly than other LED lighting: Lower power consumption for lighting and heating!
  • The LEDs operate in the optimal temperature range, which maximises the luminous duration and performance of the LEDs.
  • Silent operation
The result provides an indication of how much the heat recovery system contribute to heating your aquarium water (= relieving the load on the aquarium heating = saving energy). Please note that the calculation does not take into account any other sources of heat, such as pumps or heating elements.

Power consumption

With approximately the same light output, a 1047mm T5 fluorescent tube has a power consumption of 54 watts, one of our 100cm eco+ LED bars only approx. 29 watts.

Example calculation:

eco+ LED (29W) 0,029 kW x 10h x 365 days x 0,40 € 42,34 €
T5 Tube (54W) 0,054 kW x 10h x 365 days x 0,40 € 78,84 €

*Annual costs with a daily running time of 10 hours and 0.40 € per kWh

Durability

In contrast to a fluorescent tube, which loses so much power after just one year that it has to be replaced, the LED bars have a service life of approx. 40,000 hours. This corresponds to approx. 11 years with 10 hours of lighting/day, provided that they are cared for and cleaned appropriately.

And in addition to the advantageous service life of the LED chips, LEDaquaristik offers you above-average product competence and professional know-how. We produce our aquarium LED lighting according to the latest LED technology, with reliability and service life always taking centre stage. High-quality materials and components, which are precisely matched to each other, as well as careful processing form the foundation for a high quality standard. An aquarium LED bar from our range will convince you on all levels.

Dimmer: reduce power consumption - increase service life

With a manual stepless LED dimmer, you can manually turn down the brightness (and thus also the power consumption) of the LEDs with a rotary knob. Even a slight reduction of the power (dimming) lowers the power consumption almost in the same proportion without the light becoming noticeably darker. As a side effect, the service life of the LED bars is also positively influenced.

Depending on the model, our automatic light controls have 2 to 8 individually programmable channels. These enable separate time and brightness settings to be made for each connected LED bar. Thus, with the LED day simulation, you can programme and simulate details such as thunderstorm phases, clouds, moonlight and much more in addition to the simple sunrise.

Another great advantage: Since all LED bars are rarely operated at full power at the same time when using an LED day simulation, the power consumption can be further influenced.

HQL replacement: flexBEAM

flexBEAM can be used as an HQL replacement. No ballast is required, only a standard lamp socket with E27 base. Due to the glass lenses in front, the flexBEAM emits a focussed light, which increases efficiency and minimises light losses. The result is a completely new depth effect and the combination of water movement and LED light creates a beautiful curling effect on the floor, i.e. the play of light waves as in nature.

Comparative values of conventional HQL lamps:

80W = approx. 3200-3800lm*.
125W = approx. 5000-6000lm*
150W = approx. 7000-7500lm*
250W = approx. 10000-12000lm* *Depending on manufacturer, light colour

*Depending on manufacturer, light colour, etc.

A 125 Watt HQL lamp is specified with approx. 5,000 lumens. The actual usable luminous flux, however, is much lower, because HQL lamps have to produce a higher lumen value so that the reflector of the luminaire can use this luminous flux to bring enough light into the aquarium. The rest is loss. In addition, the remaining somewhat higher luminous flux of HQL lamps is used up within a few operating hours, because HQL lamps lose their luminosity very quickly.
The flexBEAM work with focused lenses 60-120° beam angle, so losses are reduced to an absolute minimum!

HQI replacement: powerBEAM

The powerBEAM LED luminaires are ideally suited for large aquariums and a high light requirement. With a system power of 110W or 220W, the special features of these luminaires are the light colours that are specially matched to their intended use. You can choose from AMAZON-GROW for planted aquariums, AFRICAN-SUN for moderately to non-planted perch tanks and SEAWATER for marine aquariums. In addition, the powerBEAM LED luminaires are dual-channel dimmable and therefore very suitable for day simulation and light control. The main light with 100W or 200W power can be used for sunrise and sunset simulation and provides outstanding brightness and colour rendering during the day. In the evening and at night, the separately dimmable moonlight (inner LED circle) with a maximum power of 10W or 20W provides a very special blue effect.

The powerBEAM is a pendant luminaire and is mounted on the ceiling using a wire suspension. The optional reflector restricts the beam angle of the luminaire from 110° to 90° if required, also deflects stray light downwards and serves as a glare shield at the same time. The die-cast aluminium heat sink has excellent thermal conductivity, so the powerBEAM does not require active fans for cooling and is therefore absolutely silent.
